• Service Opportunities

One of the great things I've noticed in the short time I've been here is the way everyone takes care of one another. If there is a need or an improvement to be made, people in our family step up to take care of them. This is how the Lord intended His church to behave -- every member serving as a minister in her or his own right using the gifts and talents with which we've blessed. This was the point Jesus made to His disciples in John 13 when He washed their feet while they bickered about who would be greatest in the Kingdom (a disciple was expected to wash his rabbi's feet, not vice versa). If we love Christ, we will serve each other and the people in our community like He did. Each of us serves in our own way and there is no "unimportant" ministry. Like Paul tells us in 1 Cor. 12:14-20, the hand is not greater than the foot, nor the eye greater than the ear. Each part of the body performs its own function to make a body whole.

There is a 20/80 generalization that states 20% of the people in a church do 80% of the work (that is not the case with us, thankfully). Sometimes, though, there are members in the 80% who would like to serve, but aren't sure what they can do, where their talents lie, or they simply have not been asked where they would like to contribute. Our goal as Christians is to glorify God and grow His Kingdom.

With this in mind, we would like everyone to have the opportunity to minister here who is willing. If you're looking for a way to serve, here are just a few of the things we are currently looking for help with:

    • Working on the bulletin board and road sign
    • Developing and maintaining the church website
    • Working on community outreach projects
    • Greeting visitors at the door on Sunday mornings
    • Designing a church logo
    • Putting Bible verse labels on the walls
    • Visiting with and singing to the elderly at senior centers

If you have any interest in serving in one of these areas, please let me know. If you think there are other things we could be doing to glory God, serve the community, or build up one another, speak to one of the elders or me.

    God bless,
